Problem 1 No water or cold water

Possible Cause 1 The water heater could be completely drained of water.

Troubleshooting Steps 1. Turn off power from the circuit breaker at the main electrical panel box, drain water from the tank by opening a hot water faucet in a sink, and close the faucet when all the water has been removed from the tank.

2. Check to see if there are any other faucets in your homework, if they do turn them on and off.

3. Look under the water heater for water leaks, if water is leaking it will need to be replaced by water heater repair.

4. If water is not coming out of any faucet in your home or you can not find any water leak, turn the power back on at the circuit breaker box and reset the water heater by pressing the “reset” button on top of the water heater control panel.

5. Check water pressure. The water pressure should be between 30-120 psi (pounds per square inch). If lower than 30 psi then check the cold water line pipe located where it comes into your house for air pockets by flushing hot and cold faucets to remove air pockets.

6. Make sure all pipes are turned off except one, open a hot water faucet and water should flow if the water heater is working.

7. If water starts out cold, check the factory settings on the water heater, the water temperature should be between 120-140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Evaporator coil freezing up or ice buildup: This can cause water supply valves, drain valves, water temperature probes and other parts to freeze up. Contact a professional for help repairing your water heater if this problem occurs.
