Scuba diving, also known as scuba gear, can be traced back to Jacques Cousteau’s invention of the Aqua-Lung in 1942. The scuba dive equipment was then modified by Emile Gagnan and Jacques-Yves Cousteau for military use during World War II. In 1948 scuba divers were used to mapping submerged wreckage from two German ships sunk off the coast of France. After these initial successes, scuba gear began being sold commercially and it soon became a popular activity among people who enjoy exploring underwater depths without having to rely on submarines or scuba diving.

I can’t name all of the scuba’s moments that I’ll never forget, but here are a few memorable scuba diving moments I’ve had in the past.

– The first scuba dive I did was wonderful. It was with my dad when I was 6 years old. He had scuba gear and taught me how to scuba dive in the pool of my grandparents’ home.

– Finding Nemo is one of my favorite movies, so it was exciting for me to scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia while traveling around Southeast Asia.

– Scuba diving on a shipwreck is something that made me feel less claustrophobic than scuba diving on the ocean floor or in a regular scuba tank.

– All scuba divers have a memorable moment when they think “How cool is this?” I remember scuba diving in an aquarium and thinking how amazing it was to scuba dive a few feet from a great white shark!

I could go on, but these are my favorite scuba diving moments so far.

– Many scuba divers like to keep track of how deep they’ve gone by keeping a scuba logbook . These scuba logs are filled out every time you go scuba diving so that you can easily look back at all your dives and what you did on them.

– The deepest dive ever recorded was when James Cameron, the famous director of movies such as Avatar and Titanic drove his scuba down to 10,898 meters in order to explore the depths of the Mariana Trench in 2012! This is enough depth to fit 4 Empire State Buildings inside.

– Next time you’re scuba diving, see if you can find an underwater scuba cross! Many scuba divers who die at sea are usually buried in scuba suits so they can be found easily if they ever get lost. They are then laid to rest with a scuba cross put on their gravesite, which is formed by two scubas stuck together.

– So many famous people have gone scuba diving that Hollywood even made a movie about it called The Big Blue which starred Jean-Marc Barr and Jean Reno!
